"Who we are, what we do"

"Who we are, and what we do............."

Every so often, significant figures or personalities attain unprecedented status and respect through what they have achieved in their lifetime. These special characters may have excelled themselves above the norm in any number of ways. This could be through a realization of a vision, a historical feat, intelligence, charity, dedication, heroism or even love. As a result of their accomplishments they can become a tremendous source of inspiration to generations and bring pride to those around them and be talked about for years to come. Quite often legendary figures are immortalized forever in Statue or Monumental form to create an everlasting tribute.

People of Stature Limited realize and produce bronze statues, busts or reliefs befitting of such status. With over 30 years experience in the field between them, sculptors and friends Sean 'Coach' Hedges-Quinn and Stan Mitchell, decided to assemble a small compact team of incredibly dedicated and skilled artists. Their aim, not only to provide statues of the very highest standard, but to also provide a complete service from the initial concept right up to the final realization. This includes research, design, sculpting, maquettes, moulding, casting, bronze foundry work, plinth design, landscaping and the final erection of the statue. One of our recently completed commissions was a 7 foot bronze tribute statue of Sir Alfred Ramsey, the ex-England world cup winning football manager. The unveiling was a tremendous success and a day to remember. The comments on the likeness of the statue were very generous :-

"It was a bit of a shock when the cover came off because it looks so much like him. The statue is an amazing likeness - it is wonderful. It feels like he is here and this is where he belongs."

........Lady Vicky Ramsey

"It is perfect… perfect. If Alf was trying to explain something or there was a point he was trying to make that he didn't want you to forget, that was the look he had…spot on."

........Sir Bobby Charlton

"I was awestruck when I saw the unveiling because it looked so much like Sir Alf in the day we remember him."

........Peter J Little (Sir Alf's former tailor)

"I think he could be standing there. I think it's brilliant, absolutely brilliant."

........Ipswich town fan at the unveiling

"Coach" - At work in the studio

Sean 'Coach' Hedges-Quinn

A graduate of the University of Hertfordshire, Sean initially excelled in the film industry working as a model-maker, prop master and sculptor in films as diverse as 'Lost in Space', Twelve Monkeys', 'The Mummy Returns' and 'Reign of Fire'. In 1999 he was commissioned the now award winning Sir Alfred Ramsey statue, which was to bring critical acclaim and a new direction in his career.

Stan Mitchell

A graduate of Belfast College of Art, for 14 years Stan taught at St. Margarets High School, Liverpool, before embarking on a postgraduate in History of Art at Birmingham College of Design. In 1982 he became a free-lance sculptor for Madame Tussauds in London where his portrait sculpts first gained him recognition. Stints at the BBC Visual Effects soon followed before he became Head of Sculptor and Company Director of Artem Visual Effects (one of the largest of it's kind in Europe). He continued to do portrait sculpts for Madame Tussauds throughout. Stan's experience has gained him unprecedented respect from his peers and he is widely regarded as one of the most gifted figurative and portrait sculptors in the United Kingdom.

Gary Mayne

Gary began his career as an apprentice at a local stone-masonry straight from school. Now 28 years on, he still prefers to practice his trade using the more skilful and traditional hand carving methods above the modern 'sandblasting' techniques used today. As a result of this and his unrivalled skills, his reputation makes Gary one of the most sought after stonemasons in the region.

When one considers commissioning a tribute statue it is of utmost importance that the finished spectacle is of the highest possible standard. We take great care and pride in ensuring that whoever or whatever the subject may be, an absolute true likeness is obtained. It will, after all, become a focal point in any environment, it could well become a tourist attraction and almost certainly a meeting point. People of Stature Limited have the experience and dedication to ensure that our clients can have complete confidence that their tribute statue will be of a calibre expected of such a centrepiece.
